Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 13, 2026
Kiln Notes (kilnnotes.com) is a notebook for potters to record their pieces, clays, glazes and firings. In this policy, "Kiln Notes", "we" and "us" mean the people who run it. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
When you create an account
- Your email address and a password, or your name, email address and profile picture from Google if you sign in with Google. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider; we never see them.
- Your display name.
What you add
- Pieces: photos, titles, notes, clay and glaze details, firing details and dates.
- Your profile: photo, bio and Instagram handle, if you add them.
- Your clays and glazes, the pieces and makers you save, who you follow, and who you've blocked.
- Studio memberships and join requests.
- Feedback and reports you send us. If you report a member or a piece, they aren't told who reported them.
Automatically
- Anonymous visit statistics (such as pages viewed, device type and country) through Vercel Analytics. These don't use cookies and don't identify you personally.
- Basic technical logs kept by our hosting providers, for security and to prevent abuse.
- A few settings saved in your browser so the app remembers your sign-in and preferences.
Your photos and location
Phone photos often contain hidden details, including the place they were taken. Kiln Notes removes these details on your device before a photo is uploaded, and again on our server. We never store or show where your photos were taken.
Who can see your pieces
- Public pieces can be seen by anyone, including people without an account, and may appear in search engines.
- Private pieces are visible only to you.
- Your name, profile photo, bio and Instagram handle are shown with your public pieces and on your profile.
- Studio admins can edit, or remove from the studio feed, public pieces you post to their studio while you are a member. They can't see your private pieces.
- A small number of Kiln Notes administrators can access accounts and pieces when needed to run the service, fix problems or deal with misuse.
How we use your information
- To run Kiln Notes: show your notebook, share your public pieces and run studio features.
- To send account emails, such as confirming your address or resetting your password.
- To understand how the app is used and improve it.
- To keep the service safe and prevent abuse.
We do not sell your information, show you ads, or share it with advertisers.
Services we use
- Supabase: database, sign-in and photo storage.
- Vercel: website hosting and anonymous visit statistics.
- Google: sign-in, only if you choose to sign in with Google.
These providers handle data on our behalf and may store it outside your country, including in the United States.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete a piece, its photos are deleted from storage. When you delete your account, your account, pieces, photos and everything else in it are deleted straight away. Copies in our providers' backups are cleared within 30 days, except anything we must keep by law.
Your choices and rights
You can edit or delete your pieces and profile at any time, and delete your whole account in Account Settings. You can also ask us to:
- send you a copy of your information,
- correct it,
- delete your account for you.
Email slowversion.studio@gmail.com from the address you signed up with. Depending on where you live (for example Canada, the EU, the UK or California), you may have further rights under local privacy law, including the right to complain to your privacy or data protection authority.
Children
Kiln Notes is not meant for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe someone under 16 has an account, please contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we make important changes to this policy, we'll update the date above and let members know in the app.
